Business as usual in serviced apartments

No, it wasn’t…BUSINESS as usual.

My lovely jet shooting customer loving shower had decided to have a personality disorder.

No longer was it regulating its temperature but spitting hotness at my guests.

The source of pleasure had become a weapon of able destruction.

Phone call from guest: I really need to have a bath but can’t get into the shower. The water is too hot.

I put my head in my hands at the other end of the phone, wondering how something this beautiful could become so harmful in a split second.

When developing and designing the apartments initially as serviced apartments, I thought about features that could enhance my guests’ experience and stay at Restudios Sydenham.

The ‘Aha’ moment suggested a shower of multiple purpose.

Now, before my very own eyes, my dream was fading away.

I stubbornly insisted within me that I must stick to what makes Restudios stand out and make it work. Well, what I meant was get a plumber to fix the shower and not discard it just yet.

I reached out to the manufacturer who insisted that the hard water in the UK was interfering with the mechanism of these showers. Showers I had come to love on behalf of my guests.

Hard water? I thought. This was not looking good. Manufacturers of the Nevada column shower suggested I buy a new cartridge to bring the shower back to its senses.

I have 5 of those shower columns. £300 for cartridges?

What’s the way forward? spit out this amount 6 monthly or do I just deprive my guests of what I believed made a difference to their stay.

Decisions, decisions, decisions….

Should the showers stay or should they go? Practicality over comfort? what is it to be?

It’s been over 6 hours trying to resolve this issue for an unhappy guest albeit patient.

Between trying to get a 24-hr plumbing service who had to close shop at 10pm and willing the shower to fix itself, my dear guest ended up getting a bucket to be used for the night.

Today’s not business as usual at Restudios serviced apartments.

My Nevada column shower, my gift to my guest, has gone rogue.
